Matariki
Matariki is a time for
remembering those who have passed, planting new crops and celebrating new
beginnings. Sharing a meal is an
important part of these celebrations. On Wednesday we are going to have a Matariki day in the Marama pod, celebrating with our friends, including having a healthy shared lunch. As we learn about the Matariki celebrations, it would be wonderful to hear about some of the celebrations you participate in at home. Share below a celebration your family participates in and any
traditions you may have associated with that celebration. Remember to comment in full sentences and sign off with your name.

Our family celebrates Chinese New Year. This tradition is a very important for us because we're part chinese culture. We give a card and talk chinese to say happy new year and inside the card is a whole heap of money. My dad gave me $100 for the new year celebration ( I don't know how to say happy new year in chinese but I'm still practicing). By Jayden

Our family celebrates granny's cup .Which is a yearly completion involving 4 different family's competing for a trophy called granny's cup . this year we won win the cup so that means we organise next years event . Some of the activities are best bacon and eggs pie ,egg and spoon races , tug-a-war ,egg catching and sack races but these change every year but its super fun to spend heaps of time with the family. We celebrate this around my dads great granny's birthday . She sadly passed away at 103 years of age . By Kelly

We also love all the chocolates from the Easter bunny. I think that we are lucky to be clerbrateing all these things because we get to spend lots of time with all our family.

Our family celebrates Easter, Christmas, and birthdays. We use this time to bond together as a family, or community. Usually when we celebrate our whole family comes together from all different parts of New Zealand.I think we are lucky to celebrate these things because others cant. By Cooper.

In my family we celebrate Christmas and Birthdays and Easter. We celebrate Christmas by spending time with family and getting presents for each other and have a nice dinner. When we celebrate Birthdays we make that day all about that family member. When Easter comes around we celebrate it by having a Easter egg hunt and even sometimes watch a movie about how and why Easter was created. But you don't have to celebrate all celebrations we don't celebrate Halloween because we don't believe in it. By Emily
ReplyDeleteIn our family we celebrate Birthdays. My mum loves birthdays and always decorates the house, makes a big cake with lots of yummy things on it and we have a party with lots of family and friends. My mum always makes birthdays special. Our family also celebrates Christmas. We give each other presents in the morning and have a big family dinner. By Charlotte
