Sustainability

Can we continue to do what we are doing and still SUSTAIN the land, water, energy resources, climate, and health of the planet for many more generations to come??

This term we are learning about the exciting topic of ecological sustainability, in terms of our local surroundings, resources and the planet.  We will be looking at topics including deforestation, the water cycle and rubbish.  Do you know anything about sustainability or acting sustainably? Talk with your friends and family about what sustainability means to you.  What could you be doing to help the sustainability of the local area? Share on the blog what sustainability means to you and anything that you might already be doing that might be considered a sustainable action.

Remember to use full sentences and sign off with your name.

  1. Sustainability to me is looking after nature by making sure we put our rubbish in the bin so we can keep our community tidy and clean for everyone to use. My sustainable actions are riding my scooter to school everyday instead of using the car and putting all our household recyclables in our green bins. By Charlotte

  2. Sustainability means taking what we need to live now, without jeopardising the potential for people in the future. If an activity is said to be sustainable, it should be able to continue forever.
QUESTION: What if people don't take care of the world and litter everywhere what will our world be?
What if in 50 years time there is no such thing as petrol and that cars work by using batteries instead of petrol and as well cars can actually fly or what if cars don't even exist what people use would people go back to be riding horses?

  4. Sustainability means to take care of the environment and to not litter. Sustainability also means to not waist too much important things we use like coal, wood or tranport oil/gas or otherwise the next futurous generation wont have it and cant use it. This is why we keep this world SUSTAINABLE.
